Tuning Corti's AI Models
Updated this week

How We Built Our Models

You hear us talk about it a lot, but, at Corti, we're proud of the fact that we have been building health specific AI tools since 2016. As a result, over those years we have worked with our customers to further tune our tools using their data to ultimately make the tool better for everyone. Our proprietary training process begins with extensive, carefully curated datasets that provide a broad and deep understanding of medical terminology, healthcare specialties, patient interactions, coding best practices, etc. This foundational approach ensures that our base models deliver high-quality, reliable insights across a wide range of healthcare scenarios.

While our core models are powerful and versatile, we recognize that healthcare is inherently nuanced. Different medical institutions, regions, and specialized fields often have unique communication styles, technical vocabularies, and specific contextual requirements. This is where our customization capabilities come into play. We offer specialized model tuning that allows healthcare providers to enhance our base models with their own specific data, enabling more precise and contextually relevant AI interactions.

The process of customer-specific model refinement can address several key areas of improvement. These may include adapting to unique dialect variations, incorporating specialized medical terminology from specific departments or regions, or fine-tuning the model to better understand the particular communication patterns of a healthcare network. By collecting and carefully integrating customer-specific data, we can create more tailored AI solutions that feel more intuitive and aligned with the specific needs of individual healthcare providers. Our machine learning team works closely with clients to ensure that any additional training maintains the highest standards of privacy, security, and clinical accuracy.

How We Tune Our Models

We could build another LLM with just the examples of the work we have done to tune models, but specifically we want to highlight the three main areas that we have worked in time and time again to produce great results for our customers.

Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR)

Ensuring that documents and dictations are as precise and accurate as possible, there may be opportunity to tune our proprietary ASR. Some reasons we've tuned our models in the past include something as vast as training a whole new language to something smaller like tuning to a new dialect or medical specialty.

Medical Text Summarization

The documentation needs of the organizations that we work with can differ, thus there may be a need to work to better tune our summarization models to include the right level of detail in your summaries. You may have already seen, we have a library of Corti Assistant Section Templates, but if you need something more, we're here to help!

Medical Coding

Coding can be hard! Depending on the organization, there can be very specific needs for the codes that they use, the coding workflows that need support, and what type of coding is needed (diagnostic, procedure, etc).
